The Passengers

Dogs are eligible for transport if they are well-socialized, friendly to other dogs, and non-aggressive around food and toys.

Prior to transport, all the dogs are vaccinated (Distemper/ Parvo, Bordetella, Rabies), dewormed, heartworm tested, treated for fleas and ticks, and given heartworm and flea/tick preventative. If they are not already spayed or neutered, they will be spayed or neutered at the destination shelter prior to adoption. Every animal also receives a health certificate from a veterinarian prior to transport (as required by federal and state law).

Since the program’s inception in 2012, GoNorth has transported over 22,000 dogs from east Tennessee to partner shelters with high adoption demand. The files below contain pictures of the lucky dogs that have gotten a second chance at life.

  1. Dear Friends, Just a deep and heartfelt Thank You for bringing my wonderful dog to me. Yesterday was the 3rd anniversary of our “Gotcha Day.” I looked through her adoption papers and discovered that she was brought to Bidawee Wantagh from Tennessee on February 28, 2019 by Go North. Yesterday, I found her picture in your 2019 AR link (the page is labeled February 28, 2018, but it is her.) Her name was Dolly then. Her name is Lillian now, and she is so engaged, affectionate, and joyful. She loves to hike, camp, chase balls and squirrels, snuggle, and just be with us. She has some good dog friends too. You all are the best! Thank you so much again! Julie
